    Dave West's gleaming white racing sloop Jurakan overcame the difficulty of starting last in Saturday's annual Pizza Pursuit Race sponsored by the Virgin Queen Bar & Restaurant, beating out a field of eight boats to win the Spinnaker Division. In the Non-Spinnaker Division, Andrew "Tubes" Thompson saw off all challenges.

    British Virgin Islands Dinghy Championships 2008 Notice of Race
    Royal BVI Yacht Club, Road Town Tortola, British Virgin Islands
    May 10th -11th 2008.
    Organizing Authority: The organizing authority is the Royal BVI Yacht Club

    Rules: The Racing Rules of Sailing 2005-2008, the prescriptions of the RBVIYC, the I.O.D.A., Laser Class rules, will govern the Regatta, except where any of these are altered by the Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions.

    Classes:
    Optimist (Green / White / Blue / Red)
    Laser (4.7 / Radial / Standard)
    Double Handed (Wayfarer, Laser 2, 420, Hobie Cat)
    Pico (open)

    Entry Fees:
    Prior to April 24th - Junior (U16) $50, Singlehander $60, Double Hander $80
    After April 24th - Junior (U16) $60, Singlehander $70, Double Hander $90
    Entry Fee includes event t shirt, breakfast both days, Lunch Saturday.

    The Royal BVI Yacht Club maintains an active calendar of racing, cruising, angling and social events, as well as sailing training programmes for young and old alike.

    The Club is also the primary sponsor of the annual BVI Spring Regatta and Sailing Festival held in early April each year featuring five days of racing in the Sir Francis Drake Channel for Racing classes, non-spinnaker classes, multihulls, and bareboats.
